A royal love story to wrap up Valentine’s Day …
Her Serene Highness, Princess Angela of Lichtenstein was born Angela Gisela Brown, she holds a very special place in history; for those that love to follow royal lineage stories, hers is a modern day fairy-tale… she is officially the first Afro-Latina and first person of African descent that married into one of the European royal families.
She was born in Bocas del Toro, Panamá, her parents – Javier and Silvia – then moved the family to New York where she spent her formative years.
Similar to Meghan Markle, Angela was already successful in her own right, a fashion designer with her own label – “A.Brown” – when she was introduced to Prince Maximilian of Liechtenstein, at a private party.
They hit it off and dated for 3 years and although their relationship was met with some disapproval due to her heritage AND the fact that she was 11 years older than the Prince…their love conquered and the two married in 2000 – the bride designed her own dress and wore the Kinsky tiara, an heirloom kept in the House of Liechtenstein since 1870.
They are still together and reside in Liechtenstein. The royal couple had one child, a son, Prince Alfons Constantin Maria of Liechtenstein (6th in line to the throne) which makes his birth historic as well, the first Afro-Latino (Panamanian) born European royal!
