Selena Quintanilla-Perez, the Queen of Tejano, is receiving Houston Rodeo’s highest honor, she is being inducted into The Star Trail of Fame and officially becomes the first Latina to be inducted.
There have only been eight other artist who have been recognized for their “first-class musical entertainment at Rodeo Houston” stars like Reba, Brooks and Dunn, Charley Pride and George Strait. Selena, La Reina, will have her plaque located next to The King, Elvis Presley.

Selena’s sister Suzette and brother AB were present for the ceremony.
“She’s the one that should be here, not us. She should be receiving this, but unfortunately she’s not. So we have to make peace with it in out heart and accept what has been put in front of us.” – Suzette Quintanilla
This is a full circle moment as the Houston Rodeo was Selena’s last performance at the Astrodome, where she performed in the iconic purple jumpsuit as she waved and called out to the fans “how you doin’ Houston Texas!”
“The images and sounds of that iconic performance are etched in my memory and collective conscience of her millions of fans,” said Joe Crowley, the president and CEO of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
Indeed…we will never forget her. Viva La Reina. Selena Forever.
