ICYMI: MISS MÉXICO 2019 IS FROM EL PASO! Ashley Alvídrez, was born and raised in El Paso, TX, which shares an international border with sister-city Ciudad Juárez.
Like many of us on the border, fronterizos, daily life is often shared between the two cities.
After graduating from Horizon High School in El Paso, TX she went on to compete and win the title of Miss Cd. Juárez 2018, then Alvídrez went on to become Miss Chihuahua. Last week Ashley competed with women from all over the country of México and was crowned the new, Miss México for 2019.

Alvídrez, 20 years old, becomes only the second Chihuahuan winner, but first from Ciudad Juárez, to wear the coveted crown. This is a huge win for the borderland.
Her platform is “Miss Pies Ligeros” where she has been working on programs to bring not only awareness but also basic needs, like water and healthcare, to Indigenous Tarahumara communities of Chihuahua, MX.

Speaking on her initiative, she reminded the audience in Mexico City, that we are all brothers and sisters and shouldn’t discriminate against our Indigenous roots.
She will now go on to compete for Miss World in London.
