Memorial Day – Latinos of WWII

Thinking of those who made the ultimate sacrifice ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ “Over 500,000 Latinos (including many Latinas) fought and served the United States in WWII including 350,000 Mexican Americans in the 36th Infantry Division from Texas (close to 2,000 of them died in the controversial crossing of Rapido River) 53,000 Puerto Ricans served in the 65th Infantry Regiment. In addition, undocumented immigrants from Mexico also helped the war effort through their labor in the Bracero program, which included 50,000 agricultural workers and 75,000 Mexican railroad workers” [photo cred: VOCES project UT Austin]
